Artists
All of the cards are produced by one of the group’s three local artists. The women are in charge of everything from folding and stamping to painting and packaging. Soon, all of the cards will have one of the women’s initials on the back of the card, identifying the painter of that individual card.
Below you will find a short profile on each of the three Guatemalan artists.
Luz: Luz is the production supervisor. In addition to being a painter herself, she personally approves every card that is packaged. Luz is a wife and the mother of 4 children, the youngest of which was born in August of 2011! Find the cards painted by Luz with the initials ‘L.B.’ on the back.
Bety: Bety is a hard worker. While maintaining her job as a painter, she also
works as a housekeeper. Bety has a husband and 3 school aged daughters.
Find the cards painted by Bety with the initials ‘B.C.’ on the back.
Leticia: In addition to being a painter, Leticia is also the packager.
She cuts the bags, packages the cards with their envelopes, and places the sticker
on the final product. Leticia is a wife and mother of 3. Find the cards painted by
Leticia with the initials ‘L.T.’ on the back.
Artistic director: Carlos Lopez. Carlos is the director of a local art school where he and his wife Thelma teach twenty kids ages 8-16 the art of oil based painting. Their vision is to teach painting but also teach the kids Biblical principles and the importance of prayer. The art school is in its 4th year of existence, and is run in collaboration with Students International. Carlos has been extremely generous in the donation of his time and efforts to teach the women of Guatemala Greetings how to paint. Carlos also designed all of the rubber stamps with Guatemalan scenes. Thank you, Carlos, for all of your help!
